Description:

Explore the mechanics of motion in MAKE IT MOVE! This colorful traveling exhibition invites visitors to experience how simple machines help make things move. On two six-foot Velcro wall panels, design and construct tracks and pathways for a ball to follow using paddle wheels, loop-to-loops, mazes, teeter totters, and other challenges. Operate a child-sized crane and excavator to hook, lift, and scoop objects and materials. For both the crane and excavator, the gear assembly and pulley system is fully visible so visitors can observe how they work. Manipulate gears, pulleys, and levers at various tabletop exhibits. Design your own top with different sized components to see which top spins the fastest and the longest. A 60-second clock is mounted on the face of the exhibit panel so visitors can determine the spinning time for each top. Learn about physics principles such as centripetal force, acceleration, and momentum in this fun and highly interactive exhibition.
