Description:

How to Make a Monster - the art and technology of animatronics is an exciting 'behind the scenes' look at how monsters and creatures are transformed from the written word to the silver screen. It explores the skills and process involved in designing, sculpting, animating, finishing and filming a monster. Learn the arts of storyboarding, maquette building, mould making, fur punching, and blue screen effects creating. Visitors will discover how animatronic components are designed and installed to create the bones, muscles and tendons that bring creatures to life.

Entertaining and educational - this exhibition presents subjects as broad as creative writing, drawing, design, sculpture and painting through to engineering and computer effects. It's a hit with students of all levels.

With 38 exhibits, 10 inter-actives, nine AV monitors, display boards and posters, the exhibition features creatures from the movies Peter Pan, Inspector Gadget 2, George of the Jungle 2, Pitch Black and more. Visitors have the opportunity to be animatronic puppeteers, touch alien guts, and heaps more cool stuff!
